Fujitsu honoured with MoD Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award

Here at Fujitsu we like to think we’re ‘going for gold’ in all ways, but it’s extra special when the company is recognised by as significant a partner as the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Today the MoD is announcing that Fujitsu has been honoured with The Gold Award for its Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, which endorses the support and commitment Fujitsu provides to the UK Armed Forces.

Defence Employer Recognition SchemeThe Gold Award is the highest national level award for employers who demonstrate advocacy for reservists, armed forces veterans (including wounded, injured and sick), military spouses/partners and military charities.

Our longstanding affiliation with the British Armed Forces comprises a major part of our responsible business drive, with a particular focus on supporting veterans and their families.

Over the years, our Defence and National Security business has helped many veterans make a smooth transition from military service into the commercial sector.

We also provide ongoing support to reservists, helping to provide a vital role in the defence of the nation and overseas duties.

The value of this is no better put than in the words of one of our very own innovation consultants, Dwayne Dawson, who is Chief of Staff and Squadron Leader of 600 (City of London) Squadron:

“As an RAF Reservist throughout my 10 year employment with Fujitsu I have received support and encouragement to deliver my reservist duties that has been second to none. This support has made the preparation and return to employment for my two operational tours seamless on both occasions. This support has continued in the numerous other activities over the years and has been invaluable in giving me the confidence to remain an active RAF Reservist.”

In January 2014, Fujitsu signed the Ministry of Defence Armed Forces Corporate Covenant which sets out the moral obligations of society towards members of the Armed Forces community. By signing this Covenant, Fujitsu has pledged to support the British Armed Forces by upholding these key principles.

We’ve worked closely with the MoD to ensure that we build a mutually beneficial partnership that ensures that there are close ties with the commercial sector and armed forces.

Armed Forces service men and women who have joined Fujitsu have demonstrated time and time again how much value they can offer us, and provide unique skills and aptitudes that help our customers.

Likewise, we believe that it is our role as a responsible business to support veterans and their families and help to break down the barriers to military recruitment.

Receiving the Gold Award is a huge honour, but it is also recognition that we have a long-standing partnership and one we’re committed to working together on.
