As Christmas looms near, small businesses continue to work hard before the festivities begin. This week, Tech City UK announced the launch of a free scale-up programme, money was found the best staff motivator, and SMBs revealed plans to expand overseas.

  • Tech City UK, the government-backed organisation, has announced the launch of a free scale-up programme which will offer digital start-up businesses access to expertise and advice from top European and US entrepreneurs to scale. The six month pilot initiative will support 25 early stage high-growth digital businesses through a series of workshops, mentoring and strategic
  • A study by Xactly found money is best staff motivator but half of companies fail to offer any sort of financial compensation. Alongside better commission and bonuses, one-third of workers said increased pay was the best way of increasing productivity.
  • By 2025, 17% of British small businesses plan to expand overseas, a study by Everline and the Centre for Economic and Business Research has found. This is an increase from the 10.8%of small businesses currently taking advantage of additional export revenues.
